Why We Need Computer Network Maintenance

Computer networks, in short, are two or more computers linked together so that they are able to share information and resources.  When 10’s, 100’s, or 1000’s of computers are linked together into a network, some serious computer network maintenance is required.  Depending on where a network is, and the budget of the company running the network, there are many different ways to link computers together.

You can link computers together using hardwires, such as twisted cable, coaxial cable, or fiber optic cable.  Or you can connect computers using wireless technology, which consist of terrestrial microwaves, communication satellites, cellular systems, and more.

When computer networks consist of many computers and all of this expensive technical equipment, computer network maintenance can become a handful.  That is why many companies today, even companies having nothing to do with computers, have IT divisions within their buildings.  The IT divisions are usually responsible for maintaining the day-to-day functions of the network.  Sometimes a companies IT division can be the largest division in the company, if their network requires it.

Overall, computer networks have proven to be the most valuable way to share and exchange information to date.  Without these networks being maintained, we would have a huge problem.
