Tolerating Minimal Quercetin Side Effects for Real Benefits
While a number of herbal remedies have become immensely popular in recent years, few of these feature concrete evidence to support their benefits. Strangely, sometimes the lesser known herbs tend to have the most supporting evidence, despite what commercial hype might otherwise indicate.
One of these is quercetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid in foods like apples and onions. The American Cancer Society recently indicated that early evidence is positive that quercetin has a positive effect on minimizing the risk of cancer. They’re not specifically saying it alone minimizes the risk of cancer just yet, but early studies provide hope.
Part of this hope is that quercetin occurs naturally and in high concentrations in a number of fruits and vegetables verified to assist in fending off cancer, including leafy green vegetables, apples, capers and the skin of onions (especially red onions).
Furthermore evidence indicates that quercetin is very safe to take in low to medium dosage on a daily basis. Quercetin side effects are few and far between and for the most part can be addressed by lowering the dosage and/or consuming it with alkaline foods.
