Cheap bedding may feel substantial in the store, however once it has been washed it will feel thin and limp. This is due to the amount of starch that is added to the fabric which simply gets washed away as soon as you launder it. You will often find that the fabric “pills” too. This mean that it develops tiny little balls of hard fiber which give it a rough feel. Just to add insult to injury, the colors which you thought were beautiful when you purchased the bedding tend to wash out and fade very quickly. All in all, not much of a bargain at all.

To get a good deal, look for quality bedding which is being sold at a reduced price. If you are concerned at being able to detect whether a bedding ensemble is good quality, feel a high priced set and then a very cheap set. Hopefully, you will be able to tell the difference but if you are still unsure stick to the best department stores or well known brands when you do your shopping and you will be fine.

If you are shopping on the web, you will not be able to do the touch test on any bedding set you are thinking of buying so either stick to good brands or make sure that the web site you are buying from has a good returns policy.
