Most people realize that there is a psychological component to obesity. People who have a great deal of trouble losing weight often are not only dealing with a metabolic problem, but also a psychological barrier to behavioral change. One of the ways that these barriers can be overcome is through the use of hypnosis, which can be used to communicate directly with unconscious parts of the patient’s mind in order to understand the problem and introduce better solutions. Weight loss hypnosis takes many forms, often involving imagined situations an symbols from a patient’s lif. It can often be more effective when the procedure used has a high level of significance and importance to the patient. Gastric band hypnosis takes advantage of this by simulating an entire surgical procedure through the use of hypnosis.
