Removing the Smell of the Fire

The most difficult parts of a fire damage restoration have to do with damage surfaces. When all of the restoration process has literally been completed you are usually left with one unmissable hangover and that’s the odor that is still permeating every porous surface in the home. Even after an ozone saturation has been conducted the odor will still hang around.

Your options could be to attempt to seal the smell with one of a number of different options. A fire damage primer can block out odors, can inhibit mildew growth and is effective in colder temperatures as well as warm.

Trapping the smell of the fire inside the hard surfaces of your home may be your final option after trying all the other available choices. It’s a viable alternative to going through a very expensive process which may involve ripping out walls and ceilings and possibly cabinets.
