Information on Xibrom Eye Drops
Xibrom eye drops are a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Its job is to keep a substance called prostaglandin from producing in the body and causing inflammation. This topical medication must be prescribed by a licensed health care professional.
A physician will normally prescribe this medicine after a patient has had cataract surgery. They will most likely be instructed to place the drops in their eyes twice a day for two weeks starting immediately after the surgery. It will help to relieve the pain and swelling in the eyes, although it may result in a slower healing process.
As with any other medicine, patients need to speak to their doctor about any medications they are on before taking this medicine. Certain medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, dry eye syndrome, or bleeding disorders may not react well to this medicine, so it is important they discuss any of these conditions with their doctor before starting this medication. The doctor may need to adjust the dose the person gets or perform tests periodically while they are on the medication.
The doctor will also need to know if the patient is pregnant or breast-feeding. In clinical trials, it was shown that these drops might harm unborn babies. While it is not known if a nursing baby could be harmed by the medication, those who are breast-feeding should talk to their doctor before they begin taking the eye drops.
While most of the side effects associated with this medication are not severe, there is a chance of an allergic reaction. If the patient experiences the symptoms of an allergic reaction while taking these drops, they will need to seek medical attention right away. If they have any other side effects and the side effects become annoying or get worse, they will need to contact their health care professional immediately.
There have been no clinical trials to determine whether xibrom is safe for those under 18 and for those who are elderly. As of now, these drops have only been proven safe for adults. Xibrom eye drops should be used only after the risks and benefits have been discussed.
