Hockey and Paintball Don’t Mix

Sometimes you have to wonder why there are national hockey teams in the Southern most states. I read an article today about the Atlanta Thrashers playing paintball. It’s not every day that an entire hockey team can strip off their ice hockey jerseys and jump into the forest to shoot each other with paint ball pellets. I suppose it would be considered an exercise in team building or some such nonsense but I think their time as a team would probably be better spent on the ice.

Atlanta hasn’t had a good season in a while. They are a decent competitor in the South East division but that’s not saying very much at all. When you have teams like Pittsburgh and Boston coming into the playoffs on a regular basis the Southern teams tend to get eeked out lately. This is dissapointing because teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightening were so good a few years back. Where’d all the southern hockey pride go?
