Guard Dog Training Tips
If you’ve decided to train your dog as a guardian of your home or place of business, there are a few things you should keep in mind. For starters, it’s important to make sure the dog is aware of the regular stimuli in his guarded area so he doesn’t go crazy barking at something you would consider a false alarm. Barking in general must be actively curbed since the barking should be reserved for alerting you to an intruder or suspicious activity. Introduce the dog to the neighbors and regulars so he knows the distinction from strangers or burglars. Training a dog to attack is much more dangerous and you should get a professional trainer for guard dog training that involves vicious attacks. For insurance and liability reasons, this is unadvisable anyway.
