Did Eminem Freestyle Battle?

Before becoming known as one of the greatest rappers in the history of the hip-hop culture, Eminem was widely regarded as one of the best freestyle rap battlers of his time. Hailing through the early nineties into the ’97 and ’98 years, Eminem reigned supreme over many competitors who challenged him for the throne of spitting out lyrical artillery on the microphone.

Eminem’s freestyle history began when he started gaining notoriety throughout the underground rap battle scene by going very far in several freestyle tournaments. After placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in The Freestyle Olympics and the 1997 Scribble Jam in Cincinnati, OH, Eminem’s stock rose significantly throughout the underground hip-hop world.

After dropping his first album, Infinite, Marshall Mathers began falling more and more in love with music and began slowing down in the battle circuit. Soon after he signed a record deal with Dr. Dre and stopped doing battles completely.

Since then he has went on to become hailed by many as the greatest emcee of all time. Long live the king.
