Elche is an absolutely magnificent city which has a deep history and has as many beautiful buildings. It is only a short drive from Alicante airport. One of the things that you will surely do to fully explore the city’s sophistication and love for art is by taking a tour in the monuments and buildings in Elche. These interesting structures will provide you some ideas about the city’s unique characteristics.

La Alcudia

The Neolithic dwelled on this remarkable site until the late Visigothic period. This is the sole reason why there were several extraordinary objects and wealth discovered in the area. However, La Alcudia only became famous when the sculpture of Dama de Elche, an Iberian art masterpiece was carved in the 5th century BC.

Basílica de Santa Maria

Another famous structure in Elche is The Basilica de Santa María, which contains eight stained glass windows that portray the scenes in Mystery Play, a sacred medieval play, held very month of August. These stained glass windows are the salient features of the Basilica. There are plenty of architectures which contributed to the church main façade and eye-catching interiors. You can actually see a great deal of Baroque, Gothic, and Neo classical architectural styles if you take a look at its interior decorations.

Palacio de Altamira

This magnificent fortress was constructed in three different stages. The first stage is the Almohad part, which is dated back in the late 11th and 12th century. In this part, you will see the main body of the large tower and a few pedestals. In the 15th and 16th century the second part was built and this is the biggest part of the building. It is a spacious and solid building with walls made of stone fragments and interlocking stonework. The last part of the building was built in the 18th century and was made out of the former medieval entrance. It contains polygonal ground with well-defined angles, made even more distinct by its circular corners. The third and last part is the large 18th century south façade built over the former medieval entrance. At present, it is home to the Archaelogical Museum of Elche.

These are the monuments and buildings in Elche, which are known to be the city’s sites of interest. Your family will indeed marvel at these structures as they were built not only to pay tribute to Elche’s history but also to showcase the town’s aestheticism and artistry.

Situated in Costa Blanca, Aspe lies between Valencia and Murcia. With cities of Elche and torrevieja to its south, Denia and Jevia to the north and Alicante to the east, Aspe enjoys a significant position in the province of Alicante. The area is easily accessible by air and road. Grape and wine industry as its basic amenities, Aspe is home to over nineteen thousand people, which also includes a massive population of foreign nationals as well. This explains that Aspe has become home to many foreigners also.

In this world of budding urbanization, the town has remained relatively unaffected by the ever increasing change and thus, maintains a blend of old and new. The town itself has a scintillating history that dates back to the Roman occupation. However, there is clear evidence of settlements before that time as well. This massive area is said to have used by the Romans for agriculture purposes. The town also has the privilege to have had an extensive irrigation system in those ancient times.

Besides amenities such as wine production and grape production, a large chain of restaurants and bars lines the town. Moreover, the old town centre also adds to the beauty of the city. Considered as the hub of the town, this plaza is absolutely great to stroll around as it has been pedestrianised. The walk ways and most routes are lined by fresh fruit trees which is a pleasant sight. All of this coupled with the key position that Aspe enjoys, it automatically becomes an excellent location for beaches and holiday resorts. With such strong prospects of tourism and holiday resorts, Aspe can easily generate massive revenue through their tourism industry alone. Considering these measures taking place, the population of Aspe is due to rise. It is for this reason that Aspe has developed and grown in stature over the years.

Therefore, for all those who have not yet seen any of Aspe, this is time and this is the place to be- Aspe.

One thing that you will admire about the town of Altea is its ability to retain its natural beauty and tradition.

Accommodation is one of the things that holidaymakers give importance to. Aside from staying in a luxurious hotel, a holiday rental villa can also be a holiday maker’s dream vacation. Most people are sometimes apprehensive of staying in a villa because some people may think it is expensive. This does not ring true as there are plenty of holiday villas located in serene and scenic places that can be booked for reasonable money and can therefore provide a cheap holiday. In fact, if you are going to book online, you will be surprised with all the discounted rates whether it is peak or off-peak season. Finding holiday rental villas just as easy as booking a hotel reservation.

A Holiday rental villa should be like your home away from home. The amenities that you can find in a villa include all the normal furniture that you would find in your own house, private pool, air conditioned rooms and much more. Most villas are located near the major attractions and people who are quite stressed with daily obligations and tons workloads are having a relaxed break just by taking a look at the landscape. Aside from giving holidaymakers a place to stay, one purpose why holiday rental villas are designed to be as comfortable as possible is to provide holidaymakers with a perfect place for rest and relaxation

For you to choose the perfect holiday rental villa for your family, you can search online as most villas have online advertisements. These advertisements contain pictures to provide you a bit of an idea as to what the holiday villa looks like. It has reviews and ratings from customers that you can read for you to decide whether or not the villa is perfect for you. It will also be of great help if you compare prices. Before you book a reservation, check the amenities first. You can always call the company if you want more information about the place that you want to make a reservation of. After you make a reservation, double check the details of your reservation and make sure there are no extra or hidden charges incurred.

Holiday rental villas are indeed perfect for the whole family, looking for an affordable place to stay without sacrificing the quality. If you are opting for a vacation, make sure that everything is well organized from your activities to your accommodation. If the place that you are going to stay in is spectacular, there is no reason for your vacation to be unsuccessful.

Keeping that favourite sleeping bag looking good for as long as possible is not always easy but it is worth it when it just happens to be one of those fancy down sleeping bags. These are top quality items that always keep you warm at night. They are soft and comfortable and it’s something that you can grow accustomed to using all the time.

To keep down sleeping bags at their best there are something that you can do. The only part that takes some time is the washing and rinsing but that is not required all too often. The other parts are simply preventative measures for them to stay clean and fresh for longer.

Using Down Sleeping Bags
Before you place the sleeping bag on the ground or other surface, place a waterproof sheet or tarp underneath it to prevent it from getting wet and dirty on the outer surfaces. While sleeping in it, wear a t-shirt and shorts or longer clothing to protect the inside from skin cells and oil produced by the skin.

Storage
Don’t keep the sleeping bag stored in your pack for long periods of time and have it placed in the ventilated storage bag until you unpack it. Before you store it away until the next time, air dry it or put it in the dryer on the tumble setting to remove the moisture.

Washing and Drying
Wash the sleeping bag in warm soapy water either in the bathtub or front loading washing machine. Always make sure that the soap has been removed and use extra spin cycles on the washing machine if available. Use a large dryer on low heat or without heat to dry it. Don’t go by how the outside feels as the down may still be wet even though the exterior feels dry. Use extra time on the no heat setting to make sure the dampness is removed.

As the title suggests, the Highland hotel in Dubai is a 3 star apartment hotel located in congested resident are. The major tourist attractions of Dubai are not far away, only 15 minutes by car. If you are interested in walking, you are in walking distance from the Dubai Museum. This hotel is located by Port Rashid, the boats docked making seeing the view pretty hard.

This is a 7 floor structure with 126 rooms for guests. There facilities are up to date, they have electronic card swipe keys for the rooms, 24 hour room service and house keeping. Mini bars are available in the small refrigerators in the room. You also have a direct dial tone in your room’s phone, which can be very convenient for international travels who want to phone home.

While visiting, you will have the option of visiting 4 various restaurant options; Indian, Russian or South African meals are all on the menu. A caf is also open for your convenience 24 hours a day. You also have 3 different clubs to party in each night.

Hotel facilities also include a swimming pool located on the roof of the hotel, along with a Jacuzzi. You also have the option of visiting their gym and sauna for a little exercise and relaxation.

There are plenty of mixed reviews of the Highland Hotel Dubai. Remember, in comparison to Dubai’s lavish 5 star hotels, well, yeah, it can’t hold its own but it is only a 3 star hotel. With that in mind, it fairs pretty decently. It is immaculate but the downside to this hotel is that customer service is only fair and the food is overpriced and is not all that.

It is conveniently located, and clean. Two very important factors when considering a hotel in Jumeirah Beach Dubai, due to the many over priced hotels. The rooms are a little cramped but the bed will allow you a good night’s sleep (if you can from the thump of the clubs), and you will be offered breakfast in the morning (once you have paid for it).

The clubs located in the basement of the hotel were a major complaint from previous guests. It is only a 7 floor building so what goes on in the basement does not stay in the basement and if you are trying to rest this can be extremely annoying. Cut off time for the clubs is 2 am.

With all things considered this is a 3 star hotel, and for what you are paying you are getting a pretty good deal.

Why is it always tropical islands where people fantasize about being deserted and locked off from any and all civilization? It seems to me that if I’m going to be stranded somewhere I’d want to be somewhere with a little more food options than coconuts. Not that I dislike coconuts. I’m just thinking, in the long term, I’m pretty sure by day two or three I’m going to run out of unique ways to prepare them. If I want to be alone with only nature to sustain me I think I’d want to have the opportunity to set a snare and catch me a rabbit. I’ve never eaten rabbit and have absolutely no reason to assume it would taste better or allow more cooking options than a coconut but doesn’t it sound more impressive to say you live off of wild rabbits than wild coconuts? I guess, what it comes down to is variety. If you want to live alone, far from civilization, as easily as possible but with no variety then a tropical island is probably right up your alley.

I am not really sure where to look for travel insurance information. I will be traveling for about a year, and it seems to me that the bulk of travel insurance info on websites is just hogwash meant to get you to buy the expensive and unnecessary policy a certain company has. Many of them charge you a lot, but deliver very little. Some seem to ship your remains home if need be (and we pray that there will be no need!) but don’t seem to cover doctor visits or medication. On top of this, what about dental insurance? It seems to me that most people just let this lapse, as you can pay for this on a case by case basis for relatively little money. Then, travel agents offer their own insurance. What is the right path to take in this complicated, trap-filled maze? I don’t even know who to turn to for advice on this topic, and it is imperative that I get it right!

I’m not going to lie to you people. I watch a LOT of movies. And one profound effect they’ve had on my lifestyle is that now, after traveling, I constantly feel like I have no good stories to tell. Sure, I have plenty of travel stories from Europe but none of them involve me flying to Paris overnight to hunt down the heads of a kidnapping ring, beating up everyone in sight, getting in trouble with the local law and finally ending my trip with an impressive car chase and a gun fight aboard a luxury yacht before finally saving my daughter from being raped. Not that I have a daughter or could ever hope to hold my own in any kind of fight, much less a gunfight, but why should Liam Neason get to have all the good stories. All I can tell you about Paris is that they have some really well designed museums and I didn’t get to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower because it was being repainted. Now every time I watch “Taken” I have to feel like a big ol’ sissy.

The best tropical islands in the world all have quite a bit in common. (And I don’t just mean that they fall between the 23.5°N and the 23.5°S parallels. That’s a little geography humor for you.) No sir, I’m talking about the important stuff. 1) The best islands must have palm trees. I know this sounds trite but believe you me, if there isn’t a palm tree in sight the every fiber of your being will spend the entire trip trying to reconcile every James Bond movie you’ve ever seen with reality. 2) The water needs to be crystal clear and as warm as your bath. (Otherwise, who would go SCUBA diving in their skivvies? And really, what’s the point of tropical vacations if you can’t SCUBA in your skivvies?) 3) They have to have food you wouldn’t eat back home. (If you’re just going to sit around eating Captain Crunch instead of starfruit you don’t deserve to be let out of your hotel room anyway. 4) Finally, there needs to be an overabundance of drinks with little paper umbrellas (See explanation for #1).
